Position: Global Process Lead (HR) – 12 month fixed term contract/secondment

Location: Chennai, Mexico, Cambridge, Warsaw, Macclesfield

Job Description:

  • The Global Process Lead will drive process standardisation & process improvement across AstraZeneca’s HR organization, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.
  • Working with the wider HR organization to review global/local processes, drive automation and global alignment in order to improve the efficiencies across the HR function.
  • Works closely with the regional HR services teams and our global process network, to build a better understanding of the importance of global process delivery and help drive a lean / process mindset across the organization.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Identifies opportunities for process standardisation & improvement across HROS & Regional HR service teams

  • Identifies opportunities for process standardisation & improvement within and across HR CoEs, Large Markets and Small markets

  • Works across the HR function to identify, design and implement standardised global processes, driving out efficiencies and simplifications that will lead to real process improvement, cost reduction and increased quality of service for our customers

  • Develops clear criteria for assessing processes for offshore delivery

  • Works with GPOs to review processes against the criteria and makes recommendations to GPOs and CoE leads to the optimal location for delivery

  • Manage the movement of globally standardised processes into the Regional HR services teams

  • Work with the HROS leadership team to drive out the alignment of process delivery across the HR regional service centres

  • Work with the HROS leadership team to continue the evolution of the HR regional service centres, putting user experience at the heart of everything they do

  • Work with HROS Project team on the delivery of next-generation of ServiceNow – provide support for Program Lead in determining optimal design and working with GPOs and country teams to develop optimal workflows and supporting links to knowledge

  • Work to design technology that puts our employees at the heart of our actions and decisions

  • Effectively manage a team of global process analyst(s) and HROS service deployment leads to ensure they are supporting  the HROS projects around the next generation of Service Centres and associated processes and technologies

  • Manage and facilitate design workshops/sessions with GPOs as required

  • Works with colleagues in other Enabling Functions to facilitate the integration of cross-functional processes and consistent adoption of Business Process Management standards

  • Supports HR Services leadership in the collation of regular HR performance reporting, working with Reporting team and other stakeholders, to ensure timely production of reports

  • Ensures that required service level measures are identified for all key and relevant processes, working with GPO’s where gaps are identified

  • Collects and analyses process performance data from multiple sources, including customers, to inform process improvement priorities

  • Provides support to track all projects managed through HROS

  • Provides Project management support as required to HROS projects


  • Can demonstrate experience in working in a global environment, managing work between different functions

  • Experience of operating in HR or a business service environment

  • Good written and spoken communications

  • Process mapping expertise

  • Customer-oriented with a service mind-set

  • Active listener and good problem solver

  • Highly committed and prepared to go the extra mile

  • Working with multiple stakeholder groups in a global environment


  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent work experience

  • HR background

  • Understanding and experience of using HR technology

  • Experience of involvement in process design projects

  • Lean or Six Sigma training

  • AZ experience

  • Flexibility – able to adapt working style to support programme needs
